Library
In 1920, Sir John Stanley, the Honorary Life President of the Society, acquired the library of Rev. G.P. Taylor and donated it to the Society. Thus it is named as ‘ G. P. Taylor Library’. The volume of books increased every year. The scholars and the members donated books. In 1964, some books were purchased from the grant received from the Government of India. Again, the Society was able to procure intermittent grants from the National Museum, New Delhi and other Government institution to buy the books. The Library is rich in its numismatic resources and prides to have some of the rare works undertaken by the most prominent numismatic of the past.
Further, the society needs more funds to maintain the reference numismatic library. The library is now being reorganized and a catalogue is prepared. Attempts are also being made to get grants from the Government and Public Trusts to re-augment the library. The Library is open to all interested in the study of History, Culture in General, and Numismatic in particular. Presently, there are 5000 Books and 15 Journals of the Numismatic in this library.
Museum
The Society established a small museum in a large room/hall. In 1953, Smt. Ram Dulari Dubey, the daughter of Sri Chandrika Prasad Dubey, donated a small collection of gold and silver coins of her father, to the Society. The list of the coins is published in JNSI XXII. P.L. Gupta also donated original and plaster cast coins for the museum. The museum of NSI possesses more than 600 coins of different metals. A list of Gold Coins has been published recently in the JNSI. The information related to its provenance etc. is not well documented. Original metal coins, paper currency, and cast coins are displayed in the cabinet of the museum. The museum needs to be re-organised. The present office bearers have been trying to procure a grant from the Central Government to maintain a good museum.
